OKAY, I babbled long enough....ON WITH THE GAMES!
These game ideas are not my own--I've played them at other bridal showers--the only thing I own/designed are the graphics. (Three different colors to choose from for each file!)
You can download each file by clicking on the links located under each picture~
1. Icebreaker: Purse Scavenger Hunt
Get into teams and try to fill out the entire card with a group member's name. Set a time limit--and whichever group gets the most items (or first group to finish) wins!
2. Advice for the Bride
Guest fill out an advice they have for the Bride. The bride will then read each one out loud and will try to guess who it's from.
3. Bridal Bingo
Have all the guests fill out what they think the bride will receive...while the bride is opening up all her lovely gifts, the guests can enjoy the time even more by bingo-ing it up!
Other games we played that don't need printables:
4. Collect your BLING
Plastic diamond rings were passed out to everyone. During the entire shower, you were not allowed to say the words "wedding, bride, groom or honeymoon" if you do, you must give your ring to whoever caught you. The person with the most "bling" at the end of the event wins!
5. How well do you know your GROOM
Questions about the groom (get the answers from the groom first) are asked to the bride. Every time the bride gets an answer wrong she must chew bubblegum! You can pass out the questions to your guests so they can ask and be a part of the fun!

And a post about a bridal shower would not be complete if I didn't talk about the actual event RIGHT?
right. I was only able to snap a few decent pictures the day of--gotta love the iphone ;)

There were a lot of other details (banners, foods, gifts) that I didn't mention--but this blog post was more for the printables than anything--so hope it helps if you're planning a shower soon!
It was definitely LOTS of fun to plan/execute--the other ladies in the bridal party were a blessing to serve with (love you girls!). And of course, the bride--she's the best, and I would do anything for that girl. <3
Need to build a car?? No problem! Get the kids together and have some FUN!
This was my friend's daughter's kindergarten "transportation" project (I know, kinder project??) She asked me if I could help and I jumped at the opportunity! I love these sort of projects! She has three kids, so we got the whole family together and built a strawberry shortcake car!!
Here are some pictures and some tips if you ever plan on doing this--or have to do this for a school project haha. (Break it up and do one step each day--or in our case, one day out of the week for one month.)
STEP 1: STRUCTURE |
Materials: Cardboard + Masking Tape
NO GLUE NECESSARY. I don't bother with glue because it's messy and takes too long to dry. Masking tape is strong enough to hold the car together until you can paper mache it. To do curves and bends, just score the cardboard AGAINST (perpendicular) the grain of the cardboard. Score it deep enough to cut the first and part of the middle layer but NOT the last layer of the cardboard.
I let them draw on it while I was constructing some of the harder sections of the car--so that's why there's purple marker everywhere haha. they're all artists ;)
STEP 2: PAPER MACHE |
Materials: Liquid Starch + Newsprint Paper
Liquid Starch can be found in the Laundry Detergent aisle. (Blue bottle at Walmart!) Just tear newsprint paper (found at Michaels Craft Store) long ways (it'll be easier to tear one way than the other) and soak it in starch. Use your fingers to remove excess starch and cover the entire car!
THEN IT DRIES WHITE--and gets super sturdy as well!
STEP 3: PAINTING |
Materials: Tempera Paint or Acrylic Paint
Tempera/Acrylic paint is thicker than washable paints so you'll only need to paint one coat.
(After we painted it, we cut out strawberry seeds on cardstock paper and glued them on the seat area)
STEP 4: DETAILS |
Materials: Whatever comes to mind!! Let your creative juices FLOW!
We did:
--License plates (front and back) with glitter foam sticker paper (just cut it out with scissors).
--Felt Strawberry with craft felt and pillow stuffing
--Wheels: Painted 4 ply strathmore (super heavy cardstock)
--Ribbon for the straps so that she can wear it
--Felt + Reflective paper for the "side mirrors"
STEP 5: THE PARADE!
The car was for Christin (if you haven't guessed already haha)--who also happened to be "Friend of the Week" in her kindergarten class, so she got to be line leader at the parade! She's so adorable!! AH!
They had a racing flag and the mayor came out to start the parade. I couldn't go because of work, but I wish was there!!! All the kids with their transportation projects parading around the school?? Ah, sounds so fun!
Now that the project is all done, I'm just super glad that the kids had fun!! And now, when they see newsprint paper they think "paper mache!" haha soooo cute. I hope they'll forever remember me as the "fun auntie Hannah who made a strawberry shortcake car with them" ;)

The most common new year's resolution I've heard from my peers over the years: to read the bible everyday.
Hope this helps :)
It's not a schedule--it just simply lists each chapter of the bible so you can bubble them in as you go along. Sort of like a scantron ;) This way, you always know where you left off even if your bookmark falls out.
It was a bit tricky to get it all on one side--but I finally got it to fit--yay!
Now, fold it in fourths, stick it in your life manual, and it's reading time!

Place setting for Thanksgiving 2011. Sorry this is so late :(
I was almost going to save this for next year and make the printables available for download, but I figure, I can do something different next year.
I printed "happy thanksgiving + name" and cut them in strips--wrapped it around the napkin, then stuck silverware in between. I bought the plastic plates at Big Lots. (Easy clean up and always looks nice when there's a placemat underneath).
**If you're looking for nice plastic dinnerware, go to Party City. I originally wanted to get square plates but they were closed--but I bought some later for my Christmas Dinner Party!**
I also printed their names (happy thanksgiving is on the other side)--cut them to look like flags, glued them to toothpicks and stuck them in chocolates!
hehe, I don't know if you noticed, but there's chopsticks in the first picture, and a fork in this next one. haha. :)
This place setting has endless possibilities. Just change out the napkin, plates and placemats, and it'll look completely different!
HAPPY LATE THANKSGIVING!
Here's an idea!
Instead of buying an oversized hallmark card...cut up a bunch of paper--hand them out--collect them--roll them up--and stick them in a mason jar.
The trick is to use a good palette of colorful paper--a pencil to help roll them--tape to close them before you tie the ribbon.
To make it easier for me to keep a uniformed look on the outer edge I stuck a piece of cardstock paper in the center of the jar. You don't even have to tape it in, just drop it in and let it conform to what's already there. So easy peasy.

PRINT - CUT - PASTE - EMBELLISH. easy peasy.
I designed a simple layout for a birthday card.
Super easy to create--download the template (directions are on the template) and try it out!
Piece together some of your favorite patterned paper and glue it all down flat!
Add some embellishments. I used brown ribbon to make a bow--then stuck rhinestone stickers at the bottom of each triangle--and on the bow.
I like to use clear baggies as envelopes.

anyhoo, I just messed around with it and sort of just ran through some ideas. Most of them just events/things that have been on my mind lately.
like...starting a blog, trusting HIM, thinking about how I want 4 kids, but knowing that I'll probably change my mind once I get one...can't believe steve jobs passed away...and my newest addiction: PINTEREST.

I hosted a tea party this past Saturday for the ladies of KCM UR staff 2010 (Korean-American Campus Mission-University Retreat Staff). It was the first one I've hosted--but it was super fun. I definitely want to do this every year. (i hope)
let's break it down with some pictures...
1. FOOD, DESSERT & TEA
appetizers:
cheese - salami kabob | sun dried tomato cucumber veggie cup
tea sandwiches
: cucumber-cream cheese | apple-turkey-brie
main entrees:
stuffed mushrooms | bacon wrapped asparagus | quiches
desserts:
red velvet cupcakes | chocolate covered strawberries | Madeline's | fruit medley stick
refreshments:
wild raspberry ice tea | blueberry & pomegranate tea | island mango & peach tea
TIP:
if you are cooking till the last minute and have no time to clean up, stuff all your dirty dishes/pans/pots into the dishwasher and organize it later. Hide it from sight until the guests are gone :)
2. DECOR
menus for food/dessert/drinks:
A simple way to decorate the table! Just print out the menu and tape it on colored paper that fits your theme. Frame it and set it next to some flowers.
flowers:
I got a bouquet of roses for $4.99 at Ralph's - they mark down their prices once the flowers start wilting. What a steal!!!
tissue and tulle flowers:
I made tissue paper flowers for the dessert stands. Found the tutorial
I revised the instructions a bit and made some tulle flowers for the centerpiece hanging from the ceiling lights.
coasters/cup markers/cup cake picks:
Super simple coaster tip--use a craft punch of your liking that fits and paper that matches your event and start punching! It's a one-time use coaster, but you can use ANY color, ANY paper--making it a very flexible for any sort of party or event. I used craft punches for the cup markers and cupcake toothpicks as well. I had to print out the names for the cup markers before punching.
sign:
"tea time" | I used simple craft punches and sticker letters. I strung string around two giant push pins and clipped each letter up with mini clothespins.
table covering:
I bought white table clothes from the dollar store, and then got some vinyl coverings from Michael's. Due to the weight of the paper, I didn't even have to take the backing off. After the party, I just wiped it clean and rolled it up to be reused for another day. Just in case though, I used double sided tape and taped down everything to everything!
3. FAVORS
I made hair ties for everyone! I will definitely try to post a tutorial later.
I used two different fabrics, and personalized the backing.
4. ENTERTAINMENT
A super fun and easy game I found online:
Have your guest fill out an interesting fact about themselves that no one at the party knows. (the juicier the better!). Place them all in a basket and as the hostess take one out at a time (number them as you take them out) and read it out loud. You can allow them to discuss who they think it is, but each guest must write their own answer of who they think it is. Whoever guess the most correctly wins! Have prizes for the winner!! Visit Michael's for some cute gift ideas! They have baskets of goodies that you can mix and match~
ALL DONE!
And that's it! I think it took me about a week to get everything prepped. It was super crazy the morning of since I didn't do a good enough job estimating how long it would take me to make certain things, but overall, it was super fun and a huge blessing to serve and host for the girls that came since I love them all so much :)

I made this card on saturday for a friend's wedding.
She had a balloon theme running throughout her invitations so i ran with the same idea.
I cut a bunch of circles out with my circle cutter, glittered white paper strips for the strings, accented the butterfly with a rhinestone sticker and used letter stickers for the initials and date. Overall, it's a pretty simple design :)
Textured paper is simply fab. I also love popdots--having the top balloon elevated changes the whole feel of the card. If you're looking for some inexpensive scrapbook supplies check out:

I made this for one of my sunday school students: caylee. She just finished battling bone cancer and is in rehabilitation. (Please pray for her!) I was aiming at designing a card that would lift her spirits while she was going through chemo.
