My son turned two! I was all for "let's throw a party every other year-so not this year"....but, my husband REALLY wanted to throw one EVERY year...so we compromised. We threw a small party for his 2nd. Compared to his first, this was a VERY small party. We only invited kids that our son interacts with on a regular basis--their respective families--oh and of course family/family friends. :)
I kept it simple--only decorated a dessert table and kids table! THAT'S IT. I think focusing on just two aspects of the decor let me put more energy into make those two things stand out!
I took a slightly more rustic twist on the storybook theme. I added handmade paper leaf garlands to set the tone, wood trunk slices to add that rustic feel, lots of chocolate desserts to smooth over the color palette and yarn ball caterpillars to add that pop. For the kids table, there were caterpillar placemats, apple escort cards, and lastly, a set of activity cards that they were able to play with to pass the time! Regardless, I had a lot of fun, and I think my son did too :)
Side note: since these are not pictured--for activities I made little baggies of different colored greens and red playdough so that they could make their own caterpillar!
A HUGE thank you to my amazingly generous friend Melissa and her family for opening up their home for me to have the party at! They actually gifted The Very Hungry Caterpillar book to us at my baby shower! How very fitting :)
Happy Birthday my little one! Mommy Loves you!
